I had the most fun photo shoot yesterday. A year ago, exactly to the day, I photographed these lovely children. It was such a pleasure to photograph them again and was just so fun to see how they have grown in the last year. I'm happy to say that I think I've grown too, so together we made some lovely photographs.

Wide Awake! | Los Angeles Newborn Photographer

Was given the chance to photograph the 1 week old newborn of a friend. When I arrived he was so peacefully sleeping in his swing...and that is the last he slept until I just before I left. The result is lots of cute wide eyed shots. I'm fascinated by the dark eyes of a newborn...and even more fascinating with this particular newborn was the eye contact. He seemed enthralled with the camera.

Kyle - Los Angeles Headshot Photographer

My camera has found true love and his name is Kyle. I asked my friend Kyle if I could do some new headshots for him and was thrilled when he agreed. He's the perfect model and is just about the easiest thing to photograph that I've ever had the pleasure of pointing my camera at. We did this shoot in Santa Monica on a week day at 7am. It was perfect! The lighting was just right and there was practically nobody around. I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out.

Had a fun headshot session on Saturday last week. It was a blast. Andrea really knew what she wanted and was totally prepared to make it a great session. I used my husband's office space for the first time and that worked out pretty well. I particularly loved the reflective windows on the balcony overlooking Westwood. It gave such a great color and I hope to use it again.

This was a last minute shoot. My dear friend Paul recommended me to a young actress that was only going to be in town for a few days. Luckily I had an available slot to do some photographs this week. I'm so pleased with how they turned out. She is such a sweet girl, and a fantastic actress. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love working with actors.

I had such a blast at this shoot. This was just about the most beautiful pair of people I have ever met! They just looked so happy and in love. Brought my husband along to assist in this one too. It was super handy to have him there holding the reflector and creating shade for me. Seriously...all sessions should be this fun!

I can't believe it...he looked at me! He looked at me and smiled...a LOT! I'm just giddy. Nathan is just the cutest thing when he smiles. (just a little biased here)

We had our 19 month checkup a little after these were taken. Height: 34 inches and change, weight: 26 lbs even. Head: still a tiny 18 inches.

Last Thursday morning I had the good fortune to meet with a fellow photographer to trade subjects for what turned out to be a very fun photo shoot. It was tricky taking photos with Nathan running around, but his life was only in grave danger twice. My subjects of the day were the most adorable triplets I have ever met. They were sweet and active. The little girl is so photogenic and (gasp) such a willing model.

And of course, a picture of Nathan. Just a snap, but my favorite of him from my camera that day.

Country Boy

My little family took a trip back East to visit my husband's family for Easter. It was the first they had seen Nathan in quite some time. It was so wonderful being in such a beautiful, yet COLD environment. Nathan was truly in his element. He craved the outdoors, cold and all. The farm is just the perfect place for an almost 19 month old boy to explore. I still can't seem to get my boy to want to look at me, but I just loved capturing him at play.

Ah, so lovely to be a child. Spring has sprung in full force here in LA and Nathan is loving every second of it. This morning he spent some time with his "me-ma" on the back porch blowing bubbles. Bubbles are just about the most fascinating thing in the world for an 18 month old. And I think that a baby enjoying the bubbles is just about the most fascinating thing in the world for a mommy. I couldn't resist the look of pure joy on my baby's face...I had to capture some snaps.

But...I thought I'd give it a shot. I've been taking photos seriously now for just short of a year and I love it. My son Nathan was my first subject and will always be my favorite.

For the past year I've had my trusty little Xti by my side. We've been a good team and there will always be a place in my heart for my first real camera....but now, there's a new partner in town. My lovely husband got everyone in the family to pitch in and get me a new camera..the Canon 5D Mark II. I'm in love with the darned thing. So here is one of the first pictures I took with that new camera. Happy Birthday to me!
